WHY WE EXIST

The founding members – the globally successful Austrian companies ALPLA and Greiner – sat down in 2019 and asked themselves how they could join forces. The goal was to contribute together in the fight against the global waste problem and climate change.

It quickly became clear to them that they would need to associate with other companies, who – like themselves – play a significant role in the packaging and recycling industry. After the first meeting of several of these companies, it was clear: All of us were already doing something – no one was turning a blind eye to the problems, and everyone wanted to create a bigger impact. If everyone involved in the production, use and recycling of packaging comes to the same table, then we can make a real difference.

WHO WE ARE

Committed companies along the packaging value chain

We range from raw material processors to recyclers, from packaging manufacturers to consumer goods producers. As members of the platform, we believe that a sustainable use of packaging is possible, reasonable and necessary. Each of us is already doing something. But a single company or industry can only offer partial solutions. Not only that, but a single company can only ever see a small part of the opportunities that arise.

This is what the Platform: Packaging with a Future is all about. Together, we work to ensure that existing solutions for challenges in the packaging sector are brought together to form a holistic solution. We rely on an open, facts-based dialogue with all those who are able to contribute constructively. The entire environmental footprint of each instance of packaging becomes the center of attention, because we want the best solution for products, consumers and – last but not least – our environment.
